Khalilah ‘KO’ Olokunola is the chief people officer for TRU Colors, a company that hires active and rival gang members with a social mission to unify communities. In this position, she oversees the development of a non-traditional people strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization.
Khalilah attended college both in NYC and NC and has completed open coursework at M.I.T uLab and Harvard University on entrepreneurship, leading from the emerging future and deliberations of social change.
She is an advocate for workplace diversity, inclusion, and second-chance hiring. She is also the founder of Re-engineering HR – an active conversation about the world of work to rethink and reimagine what Human Resource looks like and how it functions. KO and her work have featured online, on TV and in print, in Forbes, Good Morning America, and Dr Oz.
She is an accomplished author, speaker, core coach, and impact architect. She is married to Al and together they have four children and a pup named Ms. Bailey. They call Wilmington NC home by way of Brooklyn NY.
