Sage Accounting latest updates: Payment advice, simplified reports, easy cash transfers and more
In our Sage Delivers series, we bring you the latest news and updates on our small business accounting, payroll and HR products. We want you to get the most out of Sage and hope the details below help you do just that. Not a Sage customer yet? Treat this as a peek behind the curtain to see how our products can help your business thrive. Today, we cover some exciting updates to Sage Accounting.
You’ve got enough to worry about during these challenging times, so over the past 90 days, we’ve made a number of enhancements to Sage Accounting to make your everyday tasks a little easier.
Better interactions with your customers
Your customers are really important and creating better experiences for them in every interaction is what will keep you ahead of your competitors.
Here’s how Accounting can help you with this.
Customised logos
We’ve improved our logo customisation options, so you can feature your brand on your sales documents in the best possible way.
Now when you upload a logo, it’s automatically checked to ensure the size of the file and the quality of the image are suitable.
If the image isn’t quite right, we’ll tell you what needs to be changed.
Then when you add your logo to your invoice, for example, it’ll be the correct size and quality – and this will go a long way to adding the professional touch that you crave.
New payment advice notification
You can now easily communicate with your customers on how they should pay you by using the new payment advice included in your sales invoices.
If you’re using online payment services such as Stripe, your customers will see a ‘make payment’ button, encouraging them to pay you straight away.
Headers on customer statements
Headers are now clearly printed on all pages of exported PDF versions of customer statements. This makes them easier to understand when you’re going through multiple statements.
Providing simplicity in complicated times
Complicated times call for keeping things simple, so we’ve cut out unnecessary steps in Sage Accounting and improved visibility for you.
Improved handling of zero-based invoices
We’ve improved how zero-based invoices are handled, so they no longer appear on ‘Overdue’ and ‘Outstanding’ tabs of your invoice list – reducing errors and saving you time.
Simplified bank transfers
You can now make bank transfers between two cash accounts without leaving the banking section.
Key reports are easier to use
Key reports (such as aged debtors and creditors, trial balance and customer statements) have been simplified.
These reports now show headers on each new page and the text on exported PDF reports is set to black, making them easier to understand.
Mobile app improvements for easier control anytime, anywhere
With the updates made to the mobile Accounting app, there’s no need to be at your workplace to run your business.
You now have instant access to your customers’ records, meaning you can quickly and easily create, customise and convert quotes, estimates and invoices. You can also check your average cost price of items (so you’re not overcharged).
“Being able to create estimates in the Sage Accounting mobile app has helped me a lot. I can now create estimates while discussing them with the customer” – Robbie White, Aintree Caravan Services Ltd
You can also make key adjustments to an invoice on the fly, including:
- Updating a customer’s address on a one-off basis without needing to change the contact address
- Adding a discount to reflect as a line item
- Updating your stock levels without needing to leave your invoice.
If you haven’t downloaded the Accounting app yet, it’s time to give it a try.

We originally had Sage 50 and went for an American programme which we still use, it handles stock sales etc far better than sage 50 and never develops a fault (I hated sage line 50) not one in nine years. Also, it is a one-product company – So you are not buying a reduced feature product as with sage. And year-end is a piece of cake. However, we have to change as they do not want to supply UK and it has had no support for two years – but more serious is our version might not operate with the newest computers software
How much does sage cost now ? 4 x computers ad is it still a reduced feature programme
